Cool cradle...

I am trying not to buy everything new for the baby, and while searching the net for a bed/crib to renovate,  I found this cool cradle. The cradle from little green factory/Green Lullaby is made out of corrugated cardboard, and is designed to cater for the babies first few months. It is light and easy to assemble/disassemble without any tools, and therefor perfect for travelling. Worried about the safety of it? Don´t worry, it is protected by a unique non-toxic fire retardant and meets the European safety standards!

Me like!

I am one of those who like to stack away things that are ugly, and fire exstinguishers are one of them. In the last place I lived, the previous owner had made a wooden box to keep it in. I was a one happy girl when she let me keep it.The fireman though, wasn´t very happy when he came on his yearly visit to see that I had my safety equipment in place. In case of a fire, the exstinguishers should be handy at all times and seconds can matter when it comes to keeping the fire from spreading.

The Swedish father and son, Göran and Lucas Dahl shared my opinion that exstinguishers are not the prettiest thing there is, and wanted to do something about it. They idea of  making safe and approved exstinguishers in trendy colors and patterns came up, and here is the result. 

Give me a bunch of white ones (a silvergrey can also do!), and I´ll gladly have one on display in every  room of the house!

I´m in love

with this beautiful ceramic from Höganäs Keramik, designed by the Swedish design team Front, launched in 2010. I would love the teapot, in white matt or white blank (the grey I could also go for!), I can´t really decide... And of course the bowl, the coffee and tea mugs and the small plates that goes with. In 2011 they added more products to the series, and soon the new pitcher (bottom image) will be added and seen in the stores.

Going for green!

A dash of green is a great additional color to all the dark furnitures I have in my home.

Wouldn´t mind adding the table and chairs too!!! Think it could go very well the rest of my stuff...

Hmmm... guess I have to start saving once again :-)

Sissa´s house

Our first shoot in Iceland was the home of Sigridur (Sissa) Olafsdottir, an Icelandic photographer. In addition to making wonderful artwork (she is having an exhibition soon), she is one of the owners of Ljosmyndaskolinn, a private photography school located in Reykjavik.

Some of the art she is working on now are these beautiful images, all presented in vintage boxes.

I want them all!

Since the homes I shoot in Iceland are all specs (not knowing if anybody will buy), I don´t know where and when it will be showing. Hopefully someone will like them, and I´ll let you know if someone do ;-)

Paper or plastic?

If I would have to choose between products made out of paper or plastic, I would definately say I´m a paper girl. Just look at these wonderful creations from Japanese Onao. Their collection SIWA, made in collaboration with industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa are just gobsmacking! The products are made from Naoron, a special paper developed by ONAO. The great thing about this amazing paper product is that it´s durable (does not tear easily) and washable! SIWA is the reversing of the characters in the word WASI (washi), which means "crinkle" in Japanese.

Empty walls...

Still haven´t gotten around to put anything up on my walls and there´s many empty spaces to cover. As a photographer you might wonder why I don´t put any of my own images up, but there´s something about it... Don´t have The image of my own that I really like, so I guess I have to keep searching for the perfect one. I´m more in to photography and prints than paintings as artwork, so collages like this one from Base 212 is right up my alley!

A few days to go...

2010 er snart over (tror jeg vil si heldigvis!), og det er tid for å kjøpe ny innmat til Filofaxen

(den elektroniske varianten har ikke helt gått helt hjem hos meg enda, selv med både Iphone og Ical for hånden). Foruten en kalender til veskebruk tror jeg jeg skal spandere på meg denne veggkalenderen fra Hayshop. Den er kuul, den er praktisk (kan brukes år etter år!) og den er helt meg ;-)

2010 is ( finally) soon to be over and the time has come to change my Filofax calendar ( I am still not in to the electronic kind even with both Iphone and Ical on my hands). In addition to a calendar to put in my handbag, I think I´ll treat myself to this wall calendar from Hayshop. Not only is it cool, it is also practical (you never need to replace it!). It is also very me ;-)

Shutters

Ligger her i sengen og ser meg rundt og har funnet ut at jeg bare MÅ ha skodder!!! Ikke bare er det vakkert, men også veldig praktisk. Solen står rett på hele dagen og soverommet er ganske så hett når kvelden kommer og det er på tide å legge seg. Ikke sikkert det egner seg her med måten vinduene er plassert, men en eller annen pantent skal vi nok finne på. Bare tenk å våkne til noe slikt...

I am laying in my bed looking around and have decided that I HAVE to have shutters!!! It is not only beautiful, but also very practical. The sun is shining all day on this side of the house, and it is pretty hot when the evening comes and it´s time to go to bed. I am not sure it is suited the way the windows are placed in this house, but I hope I´ll find a patent that will work. Just imagine waking up to something like this...

A new toy?

Jeg har lenge savnet mellomformatkameraet i jobben min. Jeg savner å se ned gjennom sjakten opp ned og speilvendt. Da det digitale overtok for film ble det et småformat kamera på meg, og min beste venn gjennom mange år ble stuet bort i en boks. Jeg savner det skrekkelig, men i det digitale stresset er det ikke rom og tid for film. Det finnes digitale bakstykker til mitt favorittkamera, men det er det desverre ikke budsjett til her i gården :-(

Fant dette kuule leketøyet på the otherist her om dagen. Et 35 mm film kamera forkledd som et mellomformat! Lett å bære, lett å ta med i vesken og enda lettere å like! Tror den må stå på en bursdagsønskeliste om ikke så altfor lenge...

I have for a long time missed my medium format camera in my job. I miss looking down the viewfinder upside down and mirrored. When digital replaced film I bought myself a 35 mm, and my best friend was stored away in a box. I miss it terribly, but in the digital stress, there´s no room for film. There are digital backs to buy, but that unfortunately doesn´t fit my budget :-(

Found this cool alternative on the otherist the other day. A 35 mm kamera disguised as a medium format! Small, light and easy to bring in you handbag and even easier to love! I think I have to put it on my birthday wishlist which is coming up.

Dreaming of a bathroom

Jeg har funnet et badekar med ørnekloer (ja, se nøye, det er ikke løveføtter). Ønsker meg tregulv og trevegger på badet, noe man selvsagt blir frarådet i dette landet. Hadde jeg hatt plass (og penger) ville det også kanskje vært en peis der. Et stort vindu hvor solen skinner inn om ettermiddagen er det også, så det er mulig jeg må ønske meg noen skodder... (det er lov å drømme!)

Det som er synd er skråtaket som gjør rommet vanskelig å innrede. Det blir med badekaret, noen hyller, en vask og kanskje et toalett. Dusje må vi fortsatt gjøre i kjelleren...

I have found an old clawfoot tub. I would like wooden walls and floors (which I am being tried talking into not having). If I had the space (and of course the money!) there would probably be a fireplace there. There´s a big window where the sun shines in the afternoon so I think I need some shutters... (one can dream!)

The challenge is the sloping ceiling which makes it hard to furnish. There´s just room for the tub, some shelves, a wash basin and maybe a toilet. Showering is to be continued in the basement...

A peaceful place to be...

Da jeg var liten var noe av det mest spennende jeg visste å sove i telt i hagen. Med sovepose, lommelykt, en god venninne, en haug Donaldblader og godteri var dette en av sommerens store høydepunkt.

Tror nok jeg ikke jeg finner det like spennende den dag i dag, men å ligge å slumre i et telt som dette under epletrærne en varm sommerdag, det hadde jeg ikke hatt noe imot!

When I was little one of the most exciting things was to camp in the garden. With a sleepingbag, torch, a good friend, a bunch of cartoon magazines and some candy that was the highlight of the summer.

I don´t think I´ll find it as exciting today, but to camp in a tent like this under the apple trees a warm summer day, I wouldn´t mind at all!

I love Britain!

Jeg har lenge vært stor fan av det britiske flagget. Jeg synes det gjør seg så fint på puter, som bakgrunn på en vegg, sengeteppe eller tilbehør. Det norske flagget blir liksom ikke det samme... Av en eller annen grunn har jeg ikke gått til anskaffelse av noe enda. Det må vel være pengene... Accessorize har en clutchveske jeg har vært på nippet til å kjøpe, men jeg har latt være (fornuften tok overhånd) Men, nå SKAL jeg! Denne tapeten fra Wallpaperspace er min om litt!

Hvor jeg skal ha den? Det sier jeg ikke ;-)

I have been a big fan of the British flag for a long time. I think it looks great as pillows, as decor on a wall, beadspread, accessories etc. The Norwegian flag does not have the same effect on me. For some reason, I haven´t bought anything yet. It must have been the money, I guess... Accessorize has a clutch I been wanting to buy, but I didn´t. I guess I came to my senses. But NOW I will! This wallpaper from Wallpaperspace will be mine shortly!

Where am I going to put it? I won´t tell! ;-)

Jeg kan sitte i timesvis å scrolle meg gjennom tingene til Factory 20. Bare bildene i seg selv er nydelige. Enkel styling og vakkert fotografert i rette omgivelser.

On my wishlist...

Når man flytter fra 48 kvm til 364 trenger man mange flere ting å fylle huset med. Ønskelisten er min er lang, og jeg bare kan drømme om å få alt jeg ønsker meg. Så sant jeg ikke finner noen skatter på vårens loppemarked. Jeg har funnet noen godbiter i det siste... Et gammelt, grått arkivskap til 50,-kr som stod alene i et hjørne og som ingen ville ha. En gammel, rusten dukkevogn som jeg halte opp fra en container på mandag. En sittegruppe til 150,- som blir kuulere enn kuulest når den får nytt trekk.

Jeg blir utrolig lykkelig når jeg gjør slike varp.

Enda lykkeligere hadde jeg nok blitt om jeg hadde funnet noen av tingene på dette bildet til slikk og ingenting, men DET tror jeg jeg bare kan drømme om...

When you move from 48 square meters to 364, you need alot of new things to fill your house with. My wishlist is long, and I can only dream of everything I want. Unless I can find some treasures in this season´s fleamarkets. I have found some nice thing lately... An old, grey filing cabinet which stood by itself in a corner and no one seemed to want. A rusty doll stroller that I pulled out from a container on Monday. Some chairs that will be cool as cool can be with some new fabric.

I get absolut ecstatic when I do these findings.

I would get even more ecstatic if I found the things in the photo above for a price next to nothing, but that I believe, is something I can only dream about...

Slik! (eller kanskje ikke helt...?)

Det er langt igjen til huset er ferdig. Vi må ta rom for rom over tid. År!!! Trøsten er at det blir sååå fint når det blir ferdig. Jeg har et Living Etc.jeg har lagt for seg selv. Som jeg tar frem ganske ofte for å vise kjæresten min når han ikke forstår hva jeg mener når jeg sier jeg vil ha det sånn og slik. Hjemmet til fotograf Paul Massey i Crouch End, London. Et bilde sier mer enn tusen ord! Noe sånt, men ikke heeelt...Bare litt mørkere, røffere og mer industrielt. På en måte det samme bare med en litt annen vri... Hvis du forstår?
