The great Kristen Visdal

You may have seen her house before, but not in a while and not like this. New colors, new combinations and new furnitures. You can see Kirsten Visdal´s "new home" in Elle Decoration´s (the Norwegian one!) June edition which is out now.

More from the orchard

Another feature that is out now (also done in the lovely apple orchard), and which made the cover, is a feature with twleve tips and ideas on how you can create a romantic and colorful environment with the optimal summer feeling in your own garden/backyard.

One of them a romantic swing made out of an old bamboo chair found in a local fleamarket.

The recipes and the "how to´s" can be found in this summer issue of BoligPluss which is out in the stores now.

Flower power!

Right outside my house, just divided by an old fence, is a wonderful apple orchard which is perfect for summery photoshoots (and great garden parties). Around this time last year, Tara and I moved some of my livingroom furnitures outside to create a colorful and romantic atmosphere. The topics was flowery, new fabrics and here are some of the pictures. Some of you might have seen it already as it is featured in Elle Decoration, Norway, which is out now. I am really happy how the pictures came out, and I guess Elle Decoration is too since it made the cover :-).

Apartment love...

My absolute favorite apartment right now is the new home of my ex-roommate, stylist and former editor of Norwegian Elle Decoration, Line Dammen. This home is right up my alley color wise (greys, whites, browns and black), furniture wise (a great mix of old and new) and style wise (ethnic meets industrial meets retro meets modern meets antique and so on). Yes please!!! Line is now working  in Kamille magazine, being in charge of the food- and interior section. These are a few of the images that was featured a few weeks ago as a "get to know" the new and talented addition to the Kamille staff.

White on white

Around this time last year, Norwegian Elle Decoration came out with a white issue.

One of the homes that was featured in this issue was Elle´s former Deputy Editor, Cecilie. Love the way she has transformed her small apartment into a white and spacious looking place, by keeping it white and neutral. I am especially a big fan of her art wall, with frames and objects in various shapes and sizes. As I guess you can see, Cecilie has a big weakness for white porcelain and her collection is to die for!

Same same!

A tiny sneak peek....

One of the things I´ve been up to lately is a couple of phtoshoots for the spring issue of the Norwegian, Elle Interior. From April 26th, we will get to know them as Elle Decoration, as they change their name along with their sister magazines worldwide. It will be the same magazine, with the same inspiring features and with the same adorable and talented girls in the office.

PS! If you´d like to get to know us better, take a look in the issue´s contributors page. You might find some juicy stuff you didn´t know about us ;-)

The Barcode district

In August I left my fair of heights at home, brought my camera and showed up in this apartment in the new "Opera Quarter" (also called Barcode) in Oslo. Situated on the 13th floor, the apartment had a stunning view of the Oslo fjord and Oslo´s "new" Operahouse. Large windows, white walls, open space and light coming from all corners made it into a dream job....
You can read more about this apartment and Oslo´s new and exciting quarter in Maison magazine nr.6, which is on sale now.

Button up!

I found this cute magnetic board on the dutch magazine 101 Woonidéeen´s homepage a while ago. Since I only understand a little bit of Dutch, I´ll write down my version of how I think it is made.
Paint a wall or a piece of plywood with two coatings of magnetic paint . Paint a color of your choice on top (chalkboard paint is perfect, then you´ll have two in one!). If you prefer metal, just paint a metalplate :-). Buy magnets and glue on buttons in different colors and sizes. Voila!

I have sinned!

Christmas starts early for photographers like me, and in July the Norwegian magazine KK was all ready for their first shoot. The theme was a christmas get together with lots of styling tips, wonderful recipes, and great giftwrapping ideas.  Lucky me got this edible version home from the shoot, and I have to admit that it didn´t have time to go bad on me even when laying in that nice little box.

If you follow this recipe I think you´ll understand why...

Sexy chocolate balls:

You need:

200 grams good quality dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)
100 grams orange flavored chocolate
2 dl cream
150 grams butter
cocoa powder
Also if you prefer:
Neatly chopped orange peel
A few drops of your favourite liquor
Crumbs from a favourite buscuit.
Nicely chopped almonds

You do:

Chop the chocolates
Put the cream in a pot and bring to a boil and pour over the chopped chocolates. Stir well. Stir the butter until soft and add the extra ingredients (Liqour, orange peel etc.)
Put the mix in the fridge until cold and stiff.
Use a spoon to dig out the mix and roll them quickly into little balls. When finished, roll all the balls in cocoa powder.

Sneak preview: the white issue

On Thursday I was on a mission for Norwegian Elle Interior, taking picture of their employer Cecilie´s gorgeous and very white apartment in Oslo. The feature will be out in their white issue which is out on October 11th. Countdown!

White on white

White never goes out of style!
This is a couple of images from feauture I did with stylist Susanne Swegen a few years back, but is still as up to date now as it was two years ago. So up to date that the trendy Swedish fashion- and interior magazine Vårt Nya Hem is showing it their August issue.

Sneak preview: Basecamp

Going camping? Earlier this year we did this feature for Bo Bedre, Norway. A great inspiration for those of us who likes to have a little bit of style whatever the location is. Camping or not,
you´ll find great things to put on your wishlist. The feature is coming on in nr.10 (the Octobre issue).

A newly discovered magazine is dutch 101 Woonideeén. The magazine is filled with wonderful and inspiring homes and ideas "the dutch way". The language can be a challenge but if you know english (and hopefully some german and norwegian), and have time and maybe some patience, you´ll get very far. The images usually speaks for itself, so the language
shouldn´t stop you from getting a subcription.

Great Aussie!

The people "down under" knows their stuff too! Especially when it comes to food and lifestyle! Another inspring magazine that I dig out from my mailbox every month, is Australian Inside Out. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary these days with a beautiful birthday issue.

Another great magazine!

The Dutch knows interior & design. Always ahead thanks to great designers. Maybe not a coincidence that Dutch Li Edelkort is one of the worlds greatest trend forecaster? Tonight, I have a "date" with VT Wonen. Getting the sofa ready with pillows, blankets, tea and the latest issue... And Iphone translator. Unfortunately, I don´t understand Dutch, so I just have to look at the great images- and let me be inspired...
