The great Kristen Visdal

You may have seen her house before, but not in a while and not like this. New colors, new combinations and new furnitures. You can see Kirsten Visdal´s "new home" in Elle Decoration´s (the Norwegian one!) June edition which is out now.

Time flies (when your having fun!)

2012 has already started out to be a busy year and blogging has been put aside. Again :-(.
So far this year I have visited and photographed a couple of beautiful homes, photographed new wallpaper arrivals (LOVE Andrew Martin´s "lumberjack"), delicious cakes, and a cover for Elle Decoration, Norway. I have even judged the "global chic" challenge that NIB (Norske Interiørblogger) put out earlier this month.
My job is so varied and exciting and I am SO lucky being able to work with something that makes my heart beats faster. My job takes me to many new and great places both in Norway and abroad, and I meet so many wonderful people everywhere I go.
My collegues, all the great and talented stylists, make my job fun and inspiring.Together we try and create new and inspiring images for all you readers of this blog, other blogs and magazines around the world. Hope we are able to inspire you in 2012 too. I will definately try my best! :-)

Here are a few bedrooms I have photographed in the last couple of years which inspires me :-)

It´s x-mas time...

It is less than two months until Christmas and several magazines are already out with their Christmas issue. It seems like Christmas hits earlier and earlier every year, but I guess people like to be ahead with the preparations. Have to admit I´m one of them, especially with the presents. The first ones have already been bought and are secretly hidden in the house....

What we can´t get enough of is recipes, gift and decoration ideas and the x-mas issues are full of them.

In Kamilles x-mas issue you can see some of Alexandra Villefrance´s wonderful decorations and gift wrapping ideas.

rust & rustic

As written in my profile, I am a big fan of old, rusty and rustic things. Every time I visit my local thrift store,  I look for something "new" to bring home to go with my collection. My last find was an old pair of scissors and a screw and bolt which both had no purpose than as decoration on one of my shelves. My good collegue and friend, stylist and designer Kari Delotis share the same passion, so we decided to do something on the theme. We gathered new and old rusty and rustic findings, and the result was these images that were featured in Interiørmagasinet earlier this fall.

Thinking...

My new kitchen is getting there, but there´s a few things still missing. I really need a new picture to go above my kitchen table and would really like an image with a food theme... I am thinking about a large one, app. 90x160 cm, or a triptych- a serie of three images. The cheapest is of course to create one myself, but it would also be fun if I found an image taken by a fellow photographer (I have seen a few that I like!).
Large format prints are quite expensive, so I have to be sure that I have chosen the right one before I go ahead and have it made.

Right now I am considering this one...Maybe this can help me get a love for baking?

Concrete and wood

A couple of years ago I shot this house on an assignment for Elle Interior. The house is located in Oslo, close to the great outdoor and skiing area, Sognsvann. I really like the way the have combined new architectual design with old furnitures, concrete, wool and wood and think it looks perfect together.

We met up in my favorite location, the wonderful home of Ingvild and Olaf, to shoot an inspirationl feature containing great textures and materials like bamboo, recycled wood, ceramics, linnen, cotton and hemp.

Just like paradise?

I can´t wait to get my bathroom up and running, but when that will be, I don´t know for sure. But, what I´m definately having when the time is here is a bathtub, so I can defrost and reheat during our cold winters. Brrr... (I have an clawfoot tub waiting outside which is covered with tons of snow at the moment).

This beautiful bathroom is from the fantastic home of stylist Ingvild Flesland that I showed you a sneak peek on earlier. Love the beautiful and great idea of filling the room with plants and flowers, to get a feeling of being somewhere very excotic.

Me like alot!

Absolutely fab!

Sjekk også deres hageblogg her!

I am often stressing too much about how much work my old house is and how many rooms there are left to renovate. Not to talk about all the flaking doors that needs to be scraped and painted back to their old selves.
Every time I enter this house my shoulders lower and lots of  weight comes off (I should come here more often!). There´s no house that inspires me more than the home of the Norwegian stylist Ingvild Flesland and German psycologist and astrologer Olaf Rademacher
Not only gives their great philosophy and way of living a calmness, but also a confirmation that I can live with flaking doors for many more years.
This house is a living proof that everything doesn´t need to be freshly painted, expensive  and new, and that imperfect is absolutely perfect! Flaking doors, recycled materials in all colors and shapes, old treasures and simple, creative solutions makes this house one of its kind.

Sneak preview: stylish stylist

Another beautiful house I shot in Iceland  a few months ago was the home of the finish/swedish stylist, Katri Tauriainen. It was love that took Katri from Sweden to Iceland 27 years ago. Since then she has managed to become well known for her work and is often to be seen in magazines and on tv, giving people advice on how to decorate their homes. Her own style is clean and well thought of, with white painted walls and floors, and with furnitures in neutral colors such as brown and black, often bought from-or inspired by- Africa, the far East or Oceania.

The feature will be printed in the Norwegian edition of Bo Bedre and is out in issue nr. 1 2011

Sneak preview: christmas cakes

I love taking pictures of food and for Maison Mat og Vin´s christmas issue I have been so fortunate to photograph a feature on cakes together with stylist Tara Ballantyne. The feature has a great mix of recipes, wrapping ideas and shopping tips, and is out from November 15th.

Frames!

Mange! I forskjellige størrelser. Helst gamle...

Have always loved the use of empty frames in stillifes, leaning against a wall or hanging. Lots of them! In different sizes and shapes. Preferably old...

White on white

White never goes out of style!
This is a couple of images from feauture I did with stylist Susanne Swegen a few years back, but is still as up to date now as it was two years ago. So up to date that the trendy Swedish fashion- and interior magazine Vårt Nya Hem is showing it their August issue.

Sneak preview: colourful ceramist

Yesterday I took pictures of a very cute and creative family and their house in a small town right outside Reykjavik, Iceland. The house was small and very colourful with many great details. It was a long day with maaany pictures taken, a few of them I share with you here. I don´t know where the feature will be published yet (I have get my selling skills together), but I bet there will be a magazine or two that would die for a home like this.

I love flowers...

I just love shooting flowers. The beauty about them stuns me. This is a shoot we did a few years ago. It is still one of my favourite features and I never get tired of looking at it.
