Magic Marrakech

In a few weeks time, I am heading for Marrakech with my Icelandic agent, stylist, blogger and friend, Gerdur Hardardottir. Morrocco is one of my favourite places to travel with it its great contrasts, wonderful atmosphere, energy, smells and great light. Taking pictures here is just a thrill, with all the colours and the fantastic light flowing in everywhere.

These pictures are taken at Riad Enija, a 280 year old family palace where I stayed and photographed last time I was there. Once the glorius residence of King Kaid, the building was bought by a silk merchant in 1860, who renovated it and converted it into his own family retreat. Now the place is owned by the Swiss Ursula Haldimann, her Swedish husband Björn and their daughter, Enija Luna. This place really lives up to its philosophy; space and time unbound, a journey into the sublime realm of peace, reflection, self-discovery, tranquility, relaxation and pleasure. A dream!

On this coming trip we will photograph a few more wonderful riads. So look out for more posts from Marrakech later :-).

Sibella´s New York

I have no plans (yet) to visit New York in the nearest future (at least not this year), and money is the only reason for that. But, if luck stricked this way and I was to go, I would bring along this book. Here, Australian born interior stylist, Sibella Court takes you on shopping tours around the city, guiding you to stores off the beaten tracks, giving you simple to follow routes using your feet and the subway.

If you are in to interiors and like to look for stores that offer the unusual, I believe this is the book for you.

Fiskebar- Antwerp

When we were in Antwerp, Belgium earlier this year, my travelcompanion, Kirsten and I stopped for lunch at the cool restaurant Fiskebar on Marnixplaats. Specializing in seafood, one side of the restaurant, the bar, serves small dishes like oysters, fish and chips and clams, and the restaurant "next door" serves full courses, for both lunch and dinner.  Great food in relaxed and non snobbish environments. Love love love!

If your going to Antwerp and love fish, this is the place to eat!

Wicked Valencia!

At this very moment I am in Valencia, Spain, taking a few days off from work. I have heard so many wonderful things about this city, so I had to go and see for myself. Can´t say I am disappointed, the city is so so beautiful. Today we will cross the streets from where we stay and visit the wonderful City of Arts and Sciences, with its amazing architecture and exciting things to explore. There´s a local food fair going on there now, so I can´t wait to taste various delicious local food and wine. In the sun... ;-)

Oliver Gustav once again!

In May last year, stylist Christine and I spent a week in Copenhagen for inspiration and work, and came home with this gorgeous feature (well, we think so...) shot in Oliver Gustav´s fantastic flowershop and studio in Kongens Nytorv. Unfortunately no one has shown an interest in the feature yet, but since I have now waited a whole year to share some of the images with you, I can no longer hold back. His taste in plants and interior is outstanding (and quite morbid), and visiting his place was a huge treat and great inspiration for us. A wonderful, wonderful day!

If you are going to Copenhagen, I recommend that you pay him a visit too!

Rad Reykjavik

This Easter I am going back to Reykjavik to capture more beautiful Icelandic homes. There will be four days with work and a couple of days of relaxation and sightseeing. Hate to leave the beautiful spring weather we´re having these days, but excited to see more of this cool city.

Caravan

Da jeg lette på nettet etter et bilde av en Jieldé lampe, kom jeg over denne fantastisk søte butikken i London. Butikken ligger i Shoreditch og selger en deilig miks av nytt og gammelt, re-design, ny design, morsomt nips, lamper, klær og masse mer. En butikk jeg helt klart skal besøke neste gang jeg er i byen! Websiden er laget av kuule Frank Design og bildene tatt av talentfulle Debi Treloar. 

When I searched the net for an image of a Jieldé lamp, I came across this stunning shop in London. The shop is situated in Shoreditch and is selling av great mix of old and new, re- design and new design, great gadgets, lamps, clothes and a whole lot more. A shop I´ll definately visit next time I´m in town! Their website is designed by cool Frank Design and the images taken by talented Debi Treloar.

Time to take a break...

Mens mine venner og kollegaer nøt sommeren ferierende et eller annet sted, stod jeg inne og pusset hus eller fotograferte. Nå er det endelig min tur! En siste liten tur til Kreta ble booket i går og turen starter allerede i natt. To uker med sol (kryss fingrene!), sjø, sand, god mat og vin venter, samt lange kvelder og hyggelige samtaler med kjæresten om tema som skal dreie seg om alt annet enn oppussing. Digg! Har vært så gale og tjangset på uspesifisert bosted så det kan bli spennende å se hvor vi ender opp. Dere hører fra meg... :-)

À BIENTÔT!

While my friends and collegues enjoyed the summer on a vacation somewhere, I was at home painting or taking pictures. Now it is my turn! Booked a last minute trip for me and my beloved to Crete yesterday and the trip starts tonight. Two weeks with sunshine (I hope!), sea, sand, good food and wine is awaiting, as well as late nights and great conversations about things that involves everything but decorating the house. Wonderful! We have been crazy enough to book a trip where the destination is unknown, so it´s going to be exciting to see where we end up staying. You´ll hear from me... :-)

Glamour and gorgeousness

Jeg befinner meg i skrivende stund på Island. I dag er det fridag og hva venter meg? Gay Pride 2010! Som den "fag hag" jeg er (kalt av mine homofile venner), kunne ikke valg av tidspunkt for turen vært bedre! Her skal det nytes flotte kostymer, glade gutter og jenter og kuul musikk! Synd det regner, men paraden starter ikke før om et par timer, så vi får bare krysse fingrene at det blir opphold om litt.

At this very moment I am in Iceland on a work assignment. Today is my day off and what awaits me? Gay Pride 2010! As the "fag hag" that I am (called by my gay friends), I couldn´t have chosen a better time for my trip. I´ll be experiencing great costumes, happy dancing men and women and lots of cool music. Too bad it is raining, but the parade doesn´t start until two o´clock so it is still time to clear up.

An undiscovered place

På tirsdag bærer det avsted til Island på jobb. Siden det har vært ganske hektisk med både jobb og hus i sommer, har det ikke blitt så mye tid til forberedelser. Jeg vet jo det er vulkaner der (en av dem hindret meg i å dra til Milano i april!), et fantastisk landskap, en kuul og trendy hovedstad og en nydelig blå lagune.

Sistnevnte skal besøkes så fort jeg har kommet meg av flyet slik at skuldrene får senket seg, hvilepulsen kommet ned til et normalt nivå og sansene klargjort for å ta imot dette nye, uoppdagede (for meg) stedet. Gjett om jeg gleder meg!

On Tuesday I am off to Iceland to work. Since there has been quite hectic with work and the house this summer, I haven´t had much time to prepare for the trip. I know they have volcanoes (one of them stopped me from going to Milan in April!), a fantastic landscape, a cool and trendy capital and a beautiful blue lagoon.

The lagoon is to be visited as soon as I get off the plane, so I can quickly unwind and get ready to greet this new, undiscovered place.

I can´t wait!

A place I´ve never been

Jeg har en avtale med meg selv. Den går rett å slett ut på å reise et nytt sted hvert år. Et sted jeg aldri har vært... I sommer er det Island som skal besøkes (kjerringa mot strømmen?). Er rett og slett sååå nysjerrig på dette stedet at jeg er nødt til å ta meg en tur. Mulig jeg blir askefast men hva gjør vel det? Har fått meg en ny stylist venninne via bloggingen som visstnok har mange fine hus vi kan ta bilder av. Skal nok klare å livnære meg en stund... Om noen kjøper bildene mine da!

I have an agreement with myself. About going somewhere new each year. A place I´ve never been... This summer Island is my destination. I am just too curious about this place that I have to go! I might get stuck in the ash, but I don´t care. Got myself a new stylist friend via my blog who happens to have many great houses to shoot. I think I´ll be able to survive for a while... If the magazines are buying my pictures that is!

Another great shop!

Neste gang jeg skal til London skal jeg besøke Sarah som bor rett rundt hjørnet for Portobello Market. Her har hun en stall fyllt med de herligste ting, satt sammen på bare hennes vis. Jeg må ikke glemme å si at jeg kommer, for hun er der bare etter avtale.

Next time I´m in London I will definately visit Sarah, who lives right around the corner from Portobello Market. Here, she has a stall filled with the greatest things, put together her way. I must not forget to tell her I´m coming, because she there only by appointment.

Milano!

Fire dager i Milano venter. Møbel og designmessen "Salone Internazionale del Mobile", kanskje litt shopping og hel masse kos!

Four days in Milano is awaiting me. The international furniture fair "Salone Internazionale del Mobile", maybe some shopping and a lot of treats!
